5. Cookies and third-party tools
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use a small number of cookies to make our website work and, with your permission, to understand how people use it and to show content such as maps, reviews and social media posts.
Essential cookies
These are needed for the website to work properly and to remember your cookie choices. They do not require your consent.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to see how visitors find and use our website. This tells us things like which pages are most popular and whether people are visiting on a phone or a computer. The information is combined into statistics and we do not use it to identify you.
We only set Google Analytics cookies if you click “Accept” on our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another | 2 years |

Third-party tools and content
Some parts of our website use tools from other companies. When these load, the provider may receive your IP address and information about your device, and may set its own cookies.
| Tool | Provider | Why we use it | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|---|
| reCAPTCHA | Protects our forms from spam and abuse | No, it is needed for security | |

| Social media posts | Meta (Facebook and Instagram) | Shows our latest posts and photos | Yes |
Where consent is needed, this content will only load once you accept it through our cookie banner. Until then, you will see a placeholder or a link instead. You can read how each provider uses your information in the Google Privacy Policy and the Meta Privacy Policy.
What we do not do
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use Google Ads, Meta (Facebook or Instagram) advertising pixels or any other tracking for advertising. Google Signals and advertising features in Google Analytics are switched off. If this changes in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
Changing your choices
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the website working properly.
You can find out more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
6. Who we share your information with
We only share your information where we need to, and only with people and organisations who are required to keep it safe. These include:
- Your dog’s vet or an emergency vet, if your dog needs treatment while in our care.

Some of our service providers, including Google and Meta, may process information outside the UK, for example in the European Economic Area or the United States. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or the International Data Transfer Agreement approved for use in the UK.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep your information only for as long as we need it.
| Type of information | How long we keep it |

| Financial and payment records | 6 years, to meet HMRC requirements |
| Google Analytics data | 14 months, then automatically deleted |
When we no longer need your information, we delete it securely.
9. Keeping your information safe
We take sensible steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, access to customer records is limited to staff who need it, and we use password-protected systems from trusted providers.
